We’re usually all about having some #FIKAFun to lighten things up, especially on a Monday. But since we’ve been away for a while, we wanted to come back with something close to home and our hearts.⁣

We all feel it, we all sleep on it, we try to find ways to conquer it, we talk about it (a lot!), and so, we’re here to acknowledge it. And to tell you that, we, as FIKA, are feeling quite फीका too. ⁣
⁣
While the Swedish origins of our name translate to something beautiful, in an Indian context, and in the culture we largely operate in, it does mean, bland. For the well-wishers who cautioned us about it, thank you but we still love all of it. But for now, we thought, why not embrace the word’s Hindi origins to tell you all about our state of mind.⁣
⁣
Fatigue, burnouts, creative blocks, brain fog - choose to call it whatever you like, but the emotions are largely overlapping. It’s tiring, it’s exhausting, it’s overwhelming, it’s frustrating, it’s perplexing. For reasons known, and unknown. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲, 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲, 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲, 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲!), 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝, 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 (𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞), 𝐭𝐨 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞. But sometimes, life stops you in your tracks. And what we’ve learnt (as clichéd as it maybe) is to embrace the stagnancy, instead of trying to fight it. ⁣

So,⁣
Instead of being confused about where to go, go back to where you came from. You’ll get the answer to your ‘why’.⁣

Instead of being unhappy about the unchecked items on your bucket list, create a version 2.0. You’ll get an opportunity to plan, again.⁣

Instead of being bored with regular programming, make some space to build something new. You’ll realise, there’s always room for more.⁣
